Abbas launched his career as an engineer and designer at Facebook during the height of the social media revolution. The same year Facebook as acquired Instagram for around $1 billion USD.

After Facebook, he went off to working for Pandora, Uber, AppDynamics,and Cisco. Previously played a pivotal role in getting Appdynamics acquired by Cisco for $3.7 billion USD.

Currently working at Genentech, the 3rd largest biotech company in the world, in Experience Design to improve the patient experience.

Conducted research confirming 93% of doctors wanted an easier way to toggle between conditions. Partnered with Vabysmo Marketing to design, validate, and deploy a new tabbed experience across web/mobile. Resulted in a +29% Customer Effort Score, +5.8% Visit Completion, +165% funnel conversion, and +13% page views per visit.

In 2025, launched new Direct-to-Patient (DTP) experience for Xofluza.com by facilitating design thinking workshops.
